College Description


The College of Arts and Sciences at Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology traces its roots back to its establishment in 2013, under the leadership of its inaugural dean, Dr. Victor J. Revilla. Since then, the college has evolved significantly, witnessing a succession of capable leaders, including Prof. Ana Sheryl Lyn Catura in 2016, Ronnie B. Rubi in 2019, and Geraldine C. Alvina in 2021. Currently, the college is under the stewardship of Dr. Apolonia C. Sebello, who assumed the deanship in 2021 and continues to lead the college forward. Over the years, the college has expanded its academic offerings, and it now provides four programs: Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science, Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Multimedia and Computing, and Bachelor of Science in Food Technology, catering to the diverse educational needs of its students.

As a service unit, the BISCAST College of Arts and Sciences aims to offer general education courses to other colleges that will enable future professionals to function in society effectively.

As an independent unit, the BISCAST College of Arts and Sciences aims to produce competent graduates in the fields of natural, physical, social, and behavioral sciences, as well as in the Arts, equipped with the intellectual maturity and moral integrity necessary to face the realities and challenges of a rapidly changing world.

Is a four-year board program that integrates the disciplines of chemistry, biology, and engineering in the innovation and processing of safe, stable, palatable, and nutritious food in order to address growing global food security concerns.

  2. Performing basic management functions such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, leading, and controlling;

BSESS is an interdisciplinary field designed to provide graduates with a broad and coherent understanding of applied science in terms of fitness and sports coaching and the management of fitness and sports programs in various industry settings. The fitness and sports coaching major is a standalone degree, but it enhances and complements the coaching licensure and/or certification accredited by relevant international and national governing sports bodies, as well as fitness-related certifications by reputable organizations in the field. This knowledge and skills base allows graduates to address the relevant needs of employers and pursue further specialization studies.

Entertainment and Multimedia Computing is the study and use of concepts, principles, and techniques of computing in the design and development of multimedia products and solutions.

It includes various applications such as in science and entertainment. education, simulations, and advertising. The program enables the students to be knowledgeable of the whole pipeline of Game Development and Digital Animation projects. The students will acquire the independence and creative competencies to articulate project design and requirements of new projects, not necessarily based on standard templates.

Program Educational Objectives

BSEMC graduates are expected to gain the ability to:

  1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, physical sciences, and computing sciences to the practice of being an Entertainment and Multimedia Computing Professional;
  2. Analyze project requirements and design and implement project prototypes;
  3. Use the appropriate techniques, skills, and modern computing tools necessary in the practice of being a professional game developer or animator;
  4. Engage in life-long learning and accept the need to keep updated on developments in the specific field of specialization; and
  5. Demonstrate original creative outputs and client-centric service.
